The Unwanted Surprise

After the excitment of receiving the illustrations and tooing and froing to get them just right. I had the satisfaction to upload them in Adobe Indesign and see the completed book in Pdf. It felt like a great achievement in such a short time!
This website was also getting closer to being ready to make sales. I even tested it myself making a purchase very excitedly for my incarnating grandchild last Sunday. That means that the online shop is ready for customers! :-)
Then Monday morning came bringing with it the unwanted surprise. My foot had swollen up and it was really unplesant to walk on. I felt I had been making such great progress walking with the use of my crutches and relying on the wheelchair less. I rang the nurse on call to see if it was worth a trip to the hospital. She wanted to call an ambulance for me there and then but I discovered that Kat was available to help me out yet again. Beau had returned back to uni that very day.
Kat dropped me off and went back home. I waited in a very busy emergency department for three hours. When I took my moon boot off to show the nurse I was shocked to see not only my foot was swollen but also my leg all the way up to my knee. He examined me and ask me some questions before the doctor came to see and examine me. After some prodding and poking she was leaning towards me not haing any blood clots but said she would be happy to order an ultrasound if I wanted. Convienced by the doctors response I also didn't think that I had any clots but wanted an ultrasound never the less.
The trainee radiologist did an excellent job of finding the pain and then the blood clot (after she had been complimenting me on my excellent veins). She went and got her supervisor and she had a turn of ultrasounding me, also finding the pain and the blood clot.
I went back to consult with the doctor and she said I have two choices. First I could just monitor the blood clot and take action if it grew bigger or secondly I could start on blood thinning medication now! I didn't hesitate and said I will take the medication now, even though I do have other health issues that are not a good fit for blood thinning medication. Therefore, I am keeping a watchful eye on myself. Beau and Kat picked me up that night and drove me home. They have been such a huge support and help for me during this time. They have been there every step of the way and I am so incredibly grateful to them both.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I felt really ordinary and felt I had gone backwards in my movement. In fact it is the worst I have felt during this whole 10 weeks, even worse than the fractures, surgery and pain. I just felt exhaused and unmotivated to walk on a swollen foot that gave me pins and needles. Yesterday (Thursday), I had to go to my first physio appointment and I really wasn't in the mood but I had a lovely physiotheropist that was so helpful and understanding and Beau stayed with me and kept me company while I waited. Today (Friday) I still felt ordinary but after my shower brightened up a bit. My swelling had gone down and walking was more pleasant. I even did my physio exercises several times today and took the moon boot off for hours.
It has been harder to work on my website because of all the above but I have now connected my website to Google and my website comes up when I Google my name and my book comes up on page two. I have started the connection in Bing but all this behind the scenes background work takes time and effort.
I am now on the search for book reviewers so I can publish those reviews in my book and on my website. The next bit of homework for me is to see how I connect the ISBN number to each of my books and connect the website to more search engines.

Until next week.

What a week you've had however glad to see you're back home and have the support that you need. No doubt you'll be glad when you're back on your feet. (LOL).
